Hougang Pasar Malam: Mega Night Bazaar with Ramly Burgers, TakoTaki, Kueh Tutu & More (Till 5 Aug)
Looking for something to do next few weeks? Check out the ongoing Hougang Pasar Malam – which brings back the days of the massive pasar malam housing several dozen stalls under within the heartlands!
The Hougang Pasar Malam is located at Hougang central, right beside the MRT station and is running from July 21 to Aug. 5, 2022.
It used to be that the closest thing we had to a pasar malam in Singapore was a night market in the heartlands, but take note: the term has changed its meaning. Instead of just selling traditional Malay food and clothes, it now encompasses any type of hawker fare, including Japanese (e.g. Okonomiyaki), Taiwanese (e.g. Gogyo), Korean (e.g. Kimchi fried rice) and even Thai (e.g. Thai fish maw soup).
Hougang Pasar Malam: Large-Scale Night Bazaar with Sit-in Dining
The Hougang is a large-scale night bazaar with a dedicated sit-in dining area.
Its massive size and wide variety of stalls have been drawing large crowds daily.
Below is a compilation of food stores and their reported prices at Hougang Pasar Malam:
- Ramly Burger: ~$5
- Kueh Tutu: 5 for $3.50
- Takotaki: 6 for $3+ (with fillings such as Sotong, prawn and chicken with cheese)
- Japanese Pizza starting from $5.80 (choice of prawn, chicken, salmon and crabmeat flavors)
- Taiwanese Fried Chicken Chop from $6
- Fried King Oyster Mushrooms ($4)
- Thai Milk Tea from $3
However prices are reportedly 20 per cent higher on average compared to pre-pandemic days. For example, a Ramly burger is about S$5, kueh tutu is going for S$3.50 for five, while takoyaki is S$3 for six.
